Invitation |
Gatherings in Jesus Name invites you to meetings that edify, exhort, and comfort. We meet simply in the name of Jesus Christ to strengthen the believers and proclaim the gospel that “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) |

In general, we believe that the church is made up of everyone who has trusted Jesus Christ as savior. We believe that all Christians are called to the ministry of the church in some way that is special to them, their abilities, and their situation.
We believe that the entire body of believers is responsible for evangelism and encourage it in every legal and honorable way. Although the services of the church are primarily for the strengthening and growth of Christians, we believe that the gospel should be proclaimed often and plainly in our services.
We believe in pastoral leadership, and that each local church should have more than one pastor. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of each local church to train up its own pastors, teachers, and other ministers.
We see ministry in scripture as being very simple by today’s standards. There should be just enough organization and oversight to ensure that the work is performed appropriately, while letting each person be responsible to God for the exercise of their ministry.
We believe that the church is called to evangelize the world. To meet this goal we support missionary efforts at home and abroad. We encourage missionaries to visit our church, and we encourage you to get to know them personally.
The family is the core unit of society, according to the scriptures. As a church we strive to strengthen the family in this age when it is under such persistent attack. While we provide age appropriate Sunday school and nursery for the very young, we encourage the family to meet as a unit for all services. As adults we can put up with the occasional interruption from a child as we teach them the discipline of sitting in a service.
We believe that this generation of children is the next generation of preachers, teachers, and workers. We know of no better way for them to learn, than to observe and practice the ministry themselves.
We believe that Christians are called to a high standard of relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. While salvation is eternal and can never be lost because it is settled forever in heaven, our daily lives can be very up and down. In this day the media insults fatherhood and denegrates motherhood. Our culture is immersed in pornography and sexual temptations. Drugs and alcohol are easily available in schools and on street corners. Due to these influences, we are not surprised to find many Christians with broken families and battered lives. It is the role of the church to provide a safe haven for the healing of wounded brothers and sisters.
